とあるブログを読んでいたら、こんなことが書いてありました。

「残念ながら、みんなが幸せになれる社会などあり得ないのです。」

たしかにそうかもしれません。

われわれは平等ではない。これは厳然たる事実でしょう。

こういうのを英語でどんなふうに言うんでしょうね。

「残念ながら」は I'm afraid ... か Sad to say, ... あたりでしょうか。私にとってはこれらが使いやすいので使うと思います。

「みんなが幸せになれる社会」は the society where everybody is happy でしょう。ネット上の用例はそんなに多くないようです。

The society where everybody is happy is a boring society. などという用例がありました。

これが「みんなが幸せになれる世界」だったら the world where everybody is happy でしょう。

The ideal world is the world where everybody is happy. などという用例がありました。

「などあり得ない」はこの際 ... is impossible か ... doesn't exist あたりで済ませてしまう。

でも、これだけではちょっとつまらないので、

などを引用符つきで検索してみました。

そしたら、次のような英文が出てきてしまいました。（原文のまま引用）

ここに引用した文は「英借文」の対象としてはあまりおすすめできるような代物ではありません。世界史のことなんか全然わからない私でも、例の島を占領しているのは日本ではなく、全く別の国だということぐらいはわかります。謝罪についても、外国では何もなかったことになっているようなので、何度くりかえしても意味はないでしょう。

さて、今回の英借文です。使える表現です。実際に使われた文です。

内容は全然難しくありません。読めば理解できます。でも、そのまま英借文するのではなくて、決まった言い回しだけをおさえて、あとは自分で同じ（あるいは似た）内容のことを言いたければ、もっと簡単に言えそうです。「AがBに勝って、金（銀・銅）メダルをとった」というだけのこと。でも、そんな簡単なはずのことができない・・・。え？　そうです。私です。

でも、もしかしたら、"Ah, they took the gold medal. Grait!"ぐらいなら、言えるかもしれません。

... will never yield to any external pressure. などは、使えそうだ。 主語を変えたり、will を should にしたり、・・・。

辞書には、次のような例文が載っていた。
